It’s been awhile since we’ve last done an update on the blog as we’ve been busy in the meantime, but I’ll be putting up a series of new blog posts.

The first one is a photo shoot of the lovely ladies of United Underworld. The last time we had a chance to photograph the group was at the 2009 WonderCon event. You can see pictures of the photo shoot here and resulted in this shot that I really like:

For anyone who is looking to purchase Canon lenses, there are a number of rebates available from October 22, 2009 to January 10, 2010. Remember that rebates are only good at authorized Canon dealers such as B&H Photo Video and Amazon to just name a few.

Canon has finally pulled the covers on the long awaited Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, but the question is on all our minds: will it deliver and deliver exceptionally good?

20091020_loRes_1dmkiv_front

The Canon EOS 1D/1Ds Mark III dSLRs have been what the Vista operating system has been to Microsoft: plagued by problems and bad press. So rather than releasing a 1D Mark IIIn (essentially a mid-year update), Canon has released, what many of us Canon photographers hope, is our saving bliss: a brand new model. Read More »

Ly and Rene Wedding

October 14, 2009

Ly and Rene’s wedding was a beautiful gala of Asian colors rich with Asian and Hispanic culture. Started off with the Chinese/Vietnamese Tea Ceremony at Ly’s house that included some Hispanic traditions that then progressed to a photo shoot at the gorgeous Warrior Lake on California State University Stanislaus (better known as Stan State). The reception was held at the American Legion Hall in Modesto, CA. I should note that Ly’s hair and makeup was done by her sister, absolutely amazing work! All the photography would not be possible without my amazing friends: Eric, Rendy, and Lynn shooting with me. Click in to enjoy the pictures and the slideshow (definitely watch the slideshow, has more pics). Read More »

I can’t remeber any numbers off the top of my head and I couldn’t find a limit listed in the D3S specs. But other VSLR video clip limits are in the neightborhood of 5 minutes. That may seem short. But unless you’ve got your camera set up on a tripod to shoot a dance recital, it’s not really a big problem. Most video clips end up being a lot shorter than you’d expect. I haven’t shot a ton of video. But in all the box opening and other videos I have done, I’ve yet to hit the clip time limit with a digital SLR.

Adine and Konstantin Wedding

September 23, 2009

Been meaning to post this, but hadn’t got around till now: here are some teaser pics from Adine and Konstantin’s wedding at the ever beautiful and gorgeous Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay. The beautiful hotel, the gorgeous green golf pastures, the great views of the Pacific Ocean, you couldn’t ask for more in terms of a picturesque backdrop for a wedding. The wedding ceremony took place out at the North Bluff and the wedding reception was inside the intimate Miramontes Room.

Maritza and Erasmus Wedding

September 17, 2009

Maritza and Erasmus’s Wedding on September 5 was both a beautiful and tornado-speed event! What an amazing couple so full of love, passion, and energy. It was non-stop action from the moment we met them up to the end of the night. We started from the gorgeous Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco to the Missionary Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (Maritza’s home church) for the amazing ceremony, to the Exploratorium for some pictures, and finally boarding the Hornblower for the reception. All this with a twenty-two person wedding party.

This past Saturday we had the opportunity to come out to Sacramento to attend the cosplay event Sac-Anime event at the Radisson Hotel at 500 Leisure Lane, Sacramento, CA. Despite the blistering heat of what felt like a desert (Weather.com observed that day as 104°F), many cosplayers came out, some in very elaborate costumes. We did our best to stay cool and avoid heat exhaustion while trying to get some good pictures.

It was a great event, we had lots of fun. Read more and see pictures inside from Sac-Anime. Read More »

The Norcal Summer and Spring Gathering are two separate events that both take place once a year. These gatherings are opportunities for cosplayers and photographers to get some nice photo shoots in an environment that is more relaxing, easy going, with a more pleasing setting that otherwise would be possible during convention events such as FAnime. So on Saturday, August 15, Eric, Lynn, Lynn’s cousin Joe, Elbert, Elbert’s brother, and I all joined up with a bunch of other photographers and cosplayers at Kelley Park in the Arbor picnic area for a fun filled day of eating, mingling, and photographing; of course we were doing the latter mostly. I do want to take a moment to thank the organizers of this event: KittyKatChi, Shinobi Yukari, and OscarC. Without their hard-work and dedication, this event would not have been possible.

The selection of Kelley Park in San Jose was an excellent choice for venue. Those who were at this year’s Spring gathering will remember it was held at Hakone Gardens which was also a great choice. Kudos to Oscar for always choosing excellent venues. It has ample parking, vast lands with plenty of foliage, lots of picturesque settings, an old town setting, and a Japanese Tea Garden; couldn’t possible ask for more back-drops. The weather was nice and warm and fortunately there were plenty of areas with lots of shade so we can avoid being sunburned and/or sweating profusely. Read More »
