Canon was kind enough to loan me their latest top-of-the-line professional 1D model, the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III. After using it for nearly two weeks, 3 events, 12 photo shoots, and 3 lenses, and having shot some couple thousand frames, I can safely formulate an opinion on what works, what doesn’t, and is it worth it. click to read more.

Well it’s a bit late, but on the Monday, October 6, 2008 (my wife and I’s anniversary date) edition of the Daily Post on the front page, my picture was selected for an article titled, “Palin takes off gloves: Slams Obama in Burlingame”.

We were at the Sarah Palin fundraiser event at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame on October 5 to take pictures and I had posted a few shots up on my Flickr when I received a call from Josh Wolf (if his name sounds familiar, it is because you’ve heard of him before) of the Daily Post requesting usage of my photo. The rest, as they say, is history.

You can see a PDF copy of the front page by downloading it here (PDF, 2.8 MB).

2007-annual-report.jpgWe finally completed the 2007 Public Defender Annual Report and it is now available in print or for download on the Public Defender’s website (direct link here, PDF). Overall, I’m happy with the pictures and how it turned out. It’s a completely different direction than the office has done in the past (older annual reports can be downloaded here) in terms of design and layout.

About 90% of the pictures were taken by me with the exception being: the two pictures on page 2, the image on the top of page 7, the images on page 9, and the image on page 11. All the images were taken as an employee for the Office of the Public Defender and not as a contract. The layout was handled by Larry Roberts and Lea Villegas and proof reading by Joan Kruckewitt.

If you have the chance to get an actual copy, I highly recommend it as the PDF does not do it nearly the justice. We already have quite a number of plans for this year’s annual report.
